Palamedes Swallowtail Butterfly

With all the thistle that is blooming and adding some pretty pink color just before the Fall season, more swallowtails are gathering. For some reason, I think the thistles are blooming really late this year. This is the perfect opportunity to take some amazing close-ups of these butterflies because they are so preoccupied gathering nectar. Just be careful of those thorns!

Ceraunus Blue butterfly

If anyone knows about these little blues, they are very hard to photograph. Every time you try to get just close enough they fly away. It was my lucky day today, I was able to capture not one but two!

Pine Lily

This lily is on the threatened and endangered list in Florida. There were only three in the area where I was photographing, the other two were at their last stages of growth.

Pine Lily | September 2019 | Alice Mary Herden

These lilies need just the right area and conditions for them to grow. If the conditions are not right they will stay dormant for up to 5 years. Think how amazing it would be if this area was filled with these lilies.

Lucky enough to get this Cloudless Sulfur butterfly gathering water from the petals!
